At IEBDEM, the focus of our policy engagement is to influence policy through enhancing the probability of take of research findings and recommendations. We achieve this through our mixed method impact evaluation. In the first stage, we seek the perspective of policy makers and other stakeholders on the intervention and scoping studies to project areas to sensitize the communities. In the second stage, we host a stakeholder engagement workshop or a policy conference, where research findings are presented to the key stakeholders including representatives of the beneficiary communities and emerging issues are discussed through a Focused Group Discussion.
Examples of completed stakeholder engagement includes:
- Economic Regulation of Payment Cards in Nigeria: stakeholder engagement workshop, Protea Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, 27 March, 2012.
- Microcredit and Poverty Alleviation: policy conference in collaboration with Amoye Microfinance Bank and Partnership for Economic Policy, Canada, Simbol Hotel & Suites, Ikere Ekiti, December 18, 2015.
