IEBDEM – using scientific evidence to support, influence, and advocate for development and empowerment interventions

Welcome Statement

Welcome to our website. The Initiative for Evidence Based Development and Empowerment (IEBDEM – pronounced ABIDEM), Nigeria. IEBDEM is a registered, private, independent, non‐government, and not‐for‐profit research and policy development thinktank in Nigeria and Scotland, UK.

IEBDEM became fully operational mid‐2015. Our mission is to contribute to the evidence base for the effectiveness and cost‐effectiveness of policies, programs, and interventions to reduce poverty, improve welfare, and empower the vulnerable groups in our society. Our core values are built around what we termed collaboration for mutual support, inclusion for empowerment.
On this website, you will find more information about our strategies to achieve this mission and how our core values are amplified in our policy‐focused research activities and in the consultancy services we provide to clients.

The IEBDEM team comprise a seven‐member Board of External Advisors; Six‐member Executive Team which coordinate our core activities; Administrative staff; and a Network of Researchers and field Experts from various disciplines; including Development economics; Health economics, International development; Applied econometrics; Finance; Political economy; and Social care and community development.

As a member of the public, you can make regular contributions to our activities through your comments on social media, directly on this website by requesting for a Blog space. I hope that by the end of your visit, you would have become more informed about what we do and why do what we do.
